What should you think about before your departure

Packing before you leave is always essential but even more so maybe when you go sea sailing. It is a little bit like camping out; meaning what you didn't bring along might be dearly missed.
Therefore we like to help you with a short list of bare essentials:

Sunset

  1. medicines, if you need them. Also medicines that you only use occasionally, e.g. for allergies, can be very important. Especially when we are staying in a remote bay
  2. passport (check the validity date)
  3. travel Insurance (check that it covers off-shore sailing)
  4. you sailing license or certificate
  5. an extensive collection of sun cream with high protection factor, preferable waterproof
  6. a cap or hat
  7. good quality, sunglasses with dark lenses
  8. boat shoes or training shoes with light coloured soles.
  9. a few shirts or blouses with collar and a thin long legged pair of trousers; light colours are best
  10. swimsuits and bikinis
  11. a thin sleeping bag, in case you choose to sleep on deck.
  12. other swimming tools like goggles, flippers and watertight flashlights (snorkelling at night)
  13. (underwater) camera
  14. a sweater and a water- and windproof jacket
  15. a good book or two
  16. your iPod or other MP3 player

What should you NOT bring !?

A big square hardcover suitcase...
That will really be a lot of hassle and no good on board.
Preferably take a sports bag or a backpack
